KCS Eval Process - Overview
Please read this section entirely first, before jumping into the linked details. It will allow you to understand the steps required for a successful evaluation of KCS.
Step 1: Choose suitable KCS evaluation hardware platform
Here we help you find the right hardware for your target application.
Step 2: KCS initial parameter identification
For operating KCS, initial KCS parameters are required. They describe the particular speaker model and your chosen KCS hardware platform. The speaker is measured using the KLIPPEL software module KCS-ID Parameter Identification which runs on the KLIPPEL Analyzer 3. The recorded signals are sent to the KCS Server which identifies the linear and nonlinear speaker, amplifier and calibration parameters and stores them in a KCS Monitor operation. Now they are ready to be uploaded to your target DSP, which is done in the next step.
➥ Note that if you have received a reference speaker together with your KCS hardware, this step has already been performed and you can directly start with step 3.
Step 3: Operating and tuning KCS on your hardware
KCS Monitor is your operational interface to KCS. It is used to upload the initial KCS control parameters to your control hardware device, adjust KCS settings and collect online diagnostics information. In this section we will show how to do digital speaker alignment with KCS, how to find the limits of your speaker on your chosen control hardware platform and how to adjust KCS settings for ideal interaction of these.
Step 4: Objective and subjective evaluation
Using the KLIPPEL analyzer measurement system, you can make sure that KCS is operating as intended and perform objective evaluation measurements such as frequency response, Rub&Buzz, nonlinear distortion reduction and speaker protection evaluation. You can also perform listening evaluation on your favorite music or program material in your desired target environment.
